I have more than 30 years of direct social service experience including work in crisis intervention, victim advocacy, mediation and training, and as a psychotherapist in private practice beginning in 2002. In private practice, I work with adult individuals and couples from a primarily Existential-Buddhist perspective that focuses on addressing here-and-now suffering with compassionate curiosity, working toward transforming that suffering through insight, felt-experience and action. My theoretical orientation has been influenced both by academic training and an ongoing personal meditation practice begun in 1993.
My educational background includes a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology, Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University Seattle. I have worked in non-profit, government, corporate and agency settings with adolescents, couples, groups, and individuals. I have extensive experience working with trauma (primarily sexual abuse, domestic violence, and violent crime), using a range of treatment modalities from EMDR to somatic work.
Born and raised in Seattle, I have had the pleasure of living in many places over the years (sunnier, snowier, different!) and feel glad to be here in the Pacific Northwest, where while the weather can make gardening a challenge, I have the most beautiful commute in the world. My work as a psychotherapist is a constant gift - it is a profound privilege to be invited to companion and witness the breadth and depth of possibility that healing our lives creates.
